Design Process

 For over 11 years, Carlos Martin Landscape Design & Build has provided quality landscape design services throughout Washington, DC and Montgomery County Md.  Each project begins with a meticulous design process to ensure that we create a finished product that you will love and enjoy for a lifetime.  

Initial Consultation

Every project begins with a property walkthrough to determine your needs.  How do you envision using the space?  More room for children to play, a space for pets to run, or a patio for entertaining?  Looking for a quiet nature retreat to relax in or just privacy screening from neighbors?  We consider design details that you may not have thought about, and offer innovative and environmentally friendly solutions as part of the landscape plan.  We get to know you and your sense of aesthetic expectations to implement the perfect design for you and your family.

After the initial consultation, we conduct a thorough site analysis and create a scaled drawing. We review potential drainage issues and offer remediation.  Grade and elevation changes are noted with existing plants and features.

Creating Your Landscape Design

Once the site analysis and initial walkthrough are complete, we put our extensive knowledge of plants and landscaping materials to work designing your landscape.  As horticulturalists, we understand how to choose plants that are native to the Middle Atlantic climate to yield Four Seasons filled with vibrant color, texture, and fragrance.  Our designs are practical, beautiful, and capture artistic principles of lines, space, texture, balance, and proportion to create a lush garden setting.

Ok, design is complete.  The designer emails a proposal. We work with you to revise the project until it’s just right!  After the design is finalized, we provide a cost estimate and if you accept, we schedule installation promptly.
